Roy Haynes - Cymbalism (1963)The Boston born Drummer Roy Haynes was 38 years old when he made this L.P. for the New Jazz (Prestige) label. Dusty Groove America states “Haynes had a way of making the kit talk that’s quite different than his roots in 50s jazz…..crafting tunes that swing at a lovely level, yet also have far-reaching and exploratory passages.” Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder.

Includes three originals (The Panther, Valse Robin and Mrs. Miniver), Clifford Brown’s “The Blues Walk,” the jazz standard “Body and Soul.” Also there is a Christmas song, very appropriate for this time of the year.
